

Athens
is located between the
foothills of majestic Catskill Mountain Range and the western bank of
the mighty Hudson River. Surrounded by beautful farms and
rolling fields, Athens neighboring town is
Catskill; a burgeoning art center, with a revitalized main street,
lined with interesting shops and restaurants.
Hudson is only 20 minutes over the Rip Van Winkle in Columbia
County, where you can Browse art gallerys and antique shops or
enjoy the nightlife. The Hudson Amtrak station is only 2 hours from NYC.
The Town of Athens has fine examples of Victorian, Federal, Colonial,
and Georgian architecture. There is a cultural
center, community swimming pool, and a yoga center.
The streets are lined with large locust, maple, elm and oak trees,
shading neatly tended gardens and homes. The Town has a park at the river
edge with
a gazebo. There are views of the
Catskill Mountains and the Berkshire mountains.
One can take advantage of all of the activities that are afforded
living on the Hudson. One can also walk to the river side park,
gazebo or boat launch, there is easy access to trails and nature
sanctuaries, and great golf. Only 30 minutes to great skiing
at Ski Windham or Hunter Mountain Athens is 40 minutes
south of Albany, where one can hear world class concerts by the
Albany Symphony and enjoy great performatance at The Egg - Center
for the Performing Arts.
